Established as a charity in 2014, Communigrow is an award winning sustainable food education charity providing a vital link between sustainable horticulture and community health. We operate from our Community Garden in East Malling and across communities in Kent and Medway. We teach children, young people and adults how to grow naturally produced food using sustainable methods.
Communigrow’s beneficiaries include children and young people with special education needs, local schools, people from under-resourced communities, young carers, adults with health conditions, older adults experiencing social isolation, veterans and emergency services workers and people coping with bereavement.
We are proud to have seen our beneficiary number grow every - from 441 in 2021 to over 1240 people in 2025!
Backed by research from the NHS and the Royal Horticultural Society, gardening interventions are proven to deliver accessible and cost effective psychological and physiological health benefits.
At Communigrow, our aim is also to make a lasting difference to mental and physical wellbeing through Therapeutic Gardening and to create a sense of belonging through outdoor community activities..
Our activities, outcomes, beneficiary groups and strategy are comprehensively outlined in our Annual Reports. These also contain our approved financial accounts and details of our partnerships and governance.
Our Staff design, deliver and evaluate our programming based on their expert lived experience .
